Discuss the historical development and global implications of the Healthy People national initiative. I have learned about this competency from the very beginning, and continue to learn as we did weekly discussions and I initiated my intervention plan. The foundation used for that intervention was solely based on the need expressed through Healthy People
2. Analyze theories that influence development and implementation of health policy in practice environments to promote health and disease prevention. This was achieved by reviewing the different theories for application and having to choose which one was relevant to my specific project. Many of the models had been discussed in former classes, but in this class I actually had to apply it to my plan which gave me a greater sense of understanding.

3. Synthesize knowledge of health policy incorporating change theories and research related to communities from nursing, the sciences, and humanities. This was accomplished by researching what interventions had already been implemented for my area of focus. In finding out what has already been done, it allowed me to see what has worked and what is still lacking in the area. Through this I was able to form a plan that was more specific to the population affected most by the problem, therefore, focusing on the area needing the most improvement.

4. Critically analyze legal and ethical issues of advanced practice and their impact on the client, families, and communities from social, psychological, physical, spiritual, and economic perspectives, within the focus areas discussed in the Healthy People national guidelines. This competency was achieved through further research done on the population of people affected by my problem. Research studies that evaluated what the clients had in common leading to the result of infant mortality. These studies addressed the mental and emotional well-being of the mother, the age of the mother, the relationship status of the mother, the desire of the mother to get pregnant, the socioeconomic class of the mother, and so forth. It looked at a holistic approach to the many factors which influenced the end result of fetal demise or infant mortality.

5. Evaluate evidence-based research and quality improvement outcomes as mechanisms to developing and evaluating healthcare delivery systems discussed in the Healthy People national guidelines. The evaluation phase of the project was a pivotal point in the entire plan because it would be my way of seeing how effective my approach was, and what I would need to change in order to further improve within that population. Likewise, as I reviewed literature concerning other projects, both federal and state funded, it gave a better perspective on what general dilemmas were faced in the improvement projects of other organization.
